My good friend and lead guitarist for many bands I was in, asked me to do a conversion of a 2000's MIM Fender Nashville Telecaster into a vintage 60's Esquire. He bought it new and rarely played it and mainly stayed in its case. After moving to a few different homes, he finally opened it to find the butterscotch finish had peeled and wanted to reimagine it as a seafoam green Esquire.

It wasn't an easy conversion, as the foundation of the original nylon finish was some rubbery goop which even after sanding and solvent baths, left a slippery foundation and having to manually overcome fisheyes and craters. We also wanted it to be the thinnest Nitrocellulose finish as possible, with a Fullerplast type primer, to ensure the guitar was better sounding than before.

It sports a Warmouth Vintage Tele roasted maple neck, with a beautiful Gibson '59 profile, 9.5" radius, jumbo nickel fret and a bone nut. Original split tuners. My hand-built AMI 'Esquire' Alnico 5 bridge pickup, with modified Esquire wiring: 1.) volume only 2.) volume / tone pot 3.) cocked wah (fixed cap). A 1961 exact replica headstock decal and a 5 screw single ply white guard.

This guitar sings like a bird!

Made a Esquire with a pine body, called it the pinesquire. I should take it out of the case and see if the pine sap has bled thru yet. Yes, the stock esquire 3 way switch has a weird setup, i think one was even no-load or no tone? I haven't wound ANY pickups in a while but the last set of tele pickups i wound with 42/43, i liked so much i made a spare set. I think i may do a Andy Summers tele sunburst this year as a project.

I really should record something with it, before it returns to its owner.
