HNIMD! My family has acquired 2 Mazda's in the past couple years - a CX30 that our kids drive and A CX9 for mom (no more minivan)! Mazda has in my mind taken over the crown for high quality/simple/reliable Japanese cars from Toyota/Honda. Plus they are a heck of a lot more fun to drive. Both of the CX's have the same real 6 speed transmission( not a CVT ) and also none of the cylinder deactivation/auto start stop nonsense most other automakers are adding. The AWD system is amazingly capable too - your Miata won't need that down in FL of course

My wife would like a convertible some day though, maybe you can sell me that one when you buy your next one in 2030 or whenever

I seriously doubt that I'll be around in 2030. I was in hospital in January 2023 and they told me I'd never see 2024 & moved me to Hospice care. I was on Hospice until Jan 2024 & they told me I was too healthy for Hospice.

You are preaching to the choir about Mazdas! The majority of the vehicles I've owned since 1972 have been Mazdas (the 72 was a pickup.) They make the slickest shifting manual trannys of anyone.
Plus (I'm with you on their automatics. I also have a Mazda 6 sedan with their 6 speed automatic; which can be fun in sport mode with manual shift mode ON!) I also have no use for CVT so-called trannys.
Since you are into SUV's (I've never owned one) you ought to check out Mazdas new CX-90...............

I'm glad you made it out of hospice, and 2030 really isn't that far away. I am guessing you have some more miles to put on your own odometer, and who's going to mod if you aren't around anyway?

My very first car was a Mazda 626 coupe - I don't even know what year but I paid for it by painting a guy's house back in the late 1980s, and it was pretty well used when I got it. It was horrendously slow even with a 5 speed, and it was also RWD and horrible in the winter snow but it kept on running and running until the lower control arms literally broke off the frame from so much rust.

The CX9 is my wife's car, it replaced our minivan so it's actually a lot sportier, but it is a large vehicle. It has the turbo 2.5 so it's pretty zippy for it's size and does have paddle shifters which is kind of silly but cool anyway. We bought it right when the CX90's were coming out, and we did drive one - but we actually liked the 9 better. Plus we got a relatively good deal, a similarly equipped CX90 would have been almost 10K more than what we paid.

I was looking at one of those back in 2021, but bought a '19 Mustang GT instead, which is now my wife's daily driver. The problem in my area is its always bumper-to-bumper traffic or you run upon someone excessively slow. I understand the slow since they probably have one of those insurance monitoring apps, but no motoring fun unless I travel. Congrats, I'm envious!

My next door neighbor is 83 years old. He had a 1972 Vette with less than 500 miles on it. He gave it to his son a couple of years ago and bought himself a new anniversary 2023 model. That thing is like a rocket ship.

The problem with new Vettes these days is they want to charge about $100,000 MORE than I am willing to pay.

Nah, i got this for WAY less than that! LOL

Still? That's crazy. I bought mine from Jimmy Britt Chevrolet in Greenville, GA, about halfway between Atlanta and Athens in podunkville. It was used, but only had 700 miles on it. I paid MSRP for a new one, which I didn't think was bad since it was practically brand new.

My local chevy dealer is still adding $5k-10k on top of all of their cars, but everyone else is actually starting to offer rebates and incentives again.

Doesn't matter now because I picked up my new Miata Monday.
