Don't know if you guys are familiar with Salinas—amazing chops, great tone. His stuff sometimes gets a little to close to "Smooth Jazz" for my comfort, but then he redeems himself with something like this—about halfway through he starts piling it on …

I hadn't heard of him, but thanks for posting that! Beautiful phrasing, reminds me a bit of Jeff Beck's fusion work, and I'm really fascinated by his right-hand technique - so much of that is just his thumb!

Good stuff man . I had never heard of him either. I like the smooth jazz parts, but when he kicks in the gain and the chops I enjoyed it even more.

I think he should do a YouTube tutorial on facial expressions …

Soy guitarrista ingles que vive en EU desde 1969, y durante todo este tiempo estoy apaixanado de la música brasileña y latino-americana—actualalmente estoy escuchando y tocando música uruguaya (candombe) y cubana.
¡Ojalá que estés seguro en los tiempos de pandemia y dificuldades de economía y politica, hermano!

Para ser un inglés, que vive en EU, hablas muy bien el español, incluso usando los acentos. Presumo que has recibido algún tipo de instrucción, y/o has vivido algún tiempo en países de habla hispana?

La música brasileña/latinoamericana/caribeña es muy rica, hay para todos los gustos.

Puedo recomendarte una canción bastante vieja de un cantante brasileño, en youtube la encuentras: Wilson Simonal a vida e so pra cantar.

De verdad, soy autodidacto en español—de joven, he estudiado frances en la escuela, italiano tocando música en Roma en los años 60 (!), y portugues brasileño tocando bossa y samba.
Practico mi español casi todos los dias, leyendo libros y revistas escuchando música y veyendo películas, especialmente las de Cuba. (te recomendo "Guantanamera" …)
