This 24" scale neck has been on the slow boat for about a month now. I picked it up when ebay sent me a $25 coupon. My thought was to take my first tele-ish semi-hollow project and paint it a funky color, install a short-scale neck, and possibly a bigsby. I thought this would scratch my jaguar itch and have a little fun with another project.
Well I wasn't expecting much from the neck - anticipating something that was pencil thin, poor fretwork, bad inlays, and who knows what else. However what I got was suprising - nice thickness, good nut width, frets that seem well installed and no fret sprout. The inlays seem fairly well done. This neck tint and gloss finish remind me of the GFS neck that I used for the first project. Glossy but not sticky. I haven't tried the truss rod yet or measured to verify the scale length is correct, but I'm very pleased with this $40 neck.

Those are some Zack Wylde sized inlays there. I've always wanted a bound Fender style neck with block inlays. You got a link where you grabbed that one from?

I usually avoid the cheap Chinese necks like a fungus (this one cost about 80 bucks), but I wanted a neck with block pearloid inlays and binding, and that's about impossible to find as a non-custom neck, and would have cost a small fortune to have Warmoth or Musikraft make me one, so I decided to take a risk... I was glad I did, because there isn't a thing wrong with this neck. I didn't have to file a single fret (or fret-end) on it, and the rosewood and inlays look gorgeous!
I just hope it doesn't warp or twist in a couple of years due to the wood not being properly dried, or something.

I forgot how nice that Eclipse project of yours turned out. What a sweet looking guitar! Refresh my memory what kind of dye did you use?

Thanks man... I'm kinda surprised it came out as well as it did myself (first time working with dyes).
I used Angelus leather dye thinned with alcohol. I used Rit dye to stain the grain and outer perimeter because it's a water-based dye, and I was afraid if I used an alcohol- based dye, it would bleed too much into the purple and rose dye, but that made applying the clear-coat kinda tricky.
