Nice little rarity for sure but at nearly $600 shipped after tax it's priced about $150ish too high. Make an offer is an option though!

Sheesh, already sold. I thought it would sit around for a while at that price.

There was a make an offer option, so the fact that it’s sold certainly doesn’t mean it fetched the asking price.

Reverb doesn't knuckle under to Rickenbacker like ebay does.

I've always thought Rickenbackers looked dorky.

I'm kind of in the same boat - I love me a lot of different classic guitars, but for whatever reason Rick never tripped my trigger.

Now the Basses are a different story, not sure why, but I don't play bass either....

The only good thing about Rickenbacker basses is the way they look. Otherwise they're an ergonomic and engineering nightmare. The guitars aren't as bad, but they're not that great either.

Rickenbacker's entire business is fueled 100% by nostalgia. Based on what I've seen in my brief time as a Ric enthusiast, I would wager that at least half of all Rickenbacker owners don't even play guitar. If it weren't for the Beatles and the British Invasion, Rickenbacker would have shuttered their factory over 50 years ago.

Totally understand the nostalgia thing, heck - I'm mosty a Gibson fan so that applies there too at times.

Of the Rick guitars I have played, the one thing I remember was that the neck was super narrow, and that I definitely don't like. It was very light and did seem to be very well made, but just not my style I guess.

It's understandable, but nostalgia isn't nearly the ONLY reason that people buy Gibsons. I think if Rics were such great INSTRUMENTS you'd see more pro musicians playing them.

The necks are on the narrow side, and they use the same necks on their 12-string guitars as on their 6-stringers! (except the 660/"Tom Petty" model). I used to own a 330/12 and I found it impossible to play the thing without muting strings. The spaces between the courses were only a hair wider than the spaces between the strings, so it was often hard to tell where one pair of strings ended and the next began. I also don't care for the way they place the octave strings beneath the regular gauge strings. You lose a lot of the shimmery chorus effect that way. If you're not inadvertently muting the octaves, your pick is deflecting off the heavier strings and not even making contact with the octave strings.

Also, they don't put a 12-saddle bridge on their 12-string guitars. They MAKE a 12-saddle bridge that they'll happily sell to you for an extortionate amount of money, but sorry, that doesn't come stock on their $2,500 guitar, so good luck intonating it properly. Better stay above the 5th fret until you save up enough money to buy a proper bridge.

Rickenbackers are supposed to be the gold standard for electric 12-string guitars, but I don't think anybody would be saying that if George Harrison and Roger McGuinn didn't play one. Even George complained about how narrow the neck was, and stopped playing them after about a year or so.

On top of that, their neck profiles seem to be wildly inconsistent. I don't know how that can be in the age of CNC, but before I bought my first Rickenbacker 6-string, all I read about on the Ric forum was how thin the neck profiles were. I was very surprised to discover the necks on both the 330 and 360 that owned felt like a '50s Les Paul! When I mentioned that on the forum I got DOG-PILED on by a bunch of fan-boys telling me how wrong I was (about MY OWN guitars). One guy even said that I was obviously not experienced enough with guitars to recognize a thin neck profile when i felt one. (?!)

Boy, I sure miss those guys...
