Koss KTXPro1's: Amazing sound for less than $20

So I just received my Koss KTXPro1's....and as I removed them from the packaging I thought "there's no way these are going to live up to the hype".

Well, they immediately BLEW MY MIND. The sound is fantastic. Really powerful and dynamic. The high end has sparkle, but is not harsh. The mids are nice. And the bass...well, I do not understand how little, cheap headphones like this can produce such robust and precise bass. These are not basshead phones...but they have punch.

For the past 6 weeks, I was at my brother's house, and I was listening to music every day, all day on a pair of Sony MDR V6 studio headphones. Which I thought sounded pretty good.

Well, as soon as I put these Koss on and started playing something, it was almost comical how much better these $17 Koss sound than the $100 Sony's.

I own two pair of Koss KSC75 headphones...both with headband mods...but they are both damaged from much use. That's why I got these KTXPro1's. The KSC75 and KTXPro1 models supposedly share the same driver.

I am pleased as punch...this is by far the best bang for the buck headphone I have ever purchased. Great sound. And super comfortable. Lighweight. Clamping is perfect. Tight enough to keep a secure fit, but no more than necessary.

These get a 10 out of 10 for me and I will be buying sets to give away as presents.

Thanks for the review. I have two pair of the KSC75s, a pair of the KTXPro1's, and a pair of the KPH30irb. I agree the KTXPro1's are really something. Sometimes I literally laugh when I'm wearing them and remember these were under $20. Granted they are not of a high-end build quality but they sound so freaking good and they are actually comfortable to wear. I don't know how they do it.

It's astounding. And I know what you mean by almost laughing at how great they are....and not just for the price.

Since I was so happy with the KSC75s, I was trying to decide between the PortaPro, the KPH30i, and the KTXPro1. I'm so glad I went with these as I am in love with them!
