Remove set neck?

Anyone out there ever un-glued and removed a set neck?

Probably the one thing I've never done to a guitar. I've studied a couple techniques over the years, all using steam and heat. But nothing like hearing other's experiences of what worked and what to avoid.

So, if you've done this - please post what you did and how it went!

Methinks you need to talk to someone who has done this to the particular make/model you are working on.
The reason I say this is because I had a luthier tell me the process was similar but different between a Gibson flat top & a Martin flat top.
As in if you've done a dozen Martin flat tops you'll likely screw up the first Gibson flat top you do.

I tried it once. Getting the neck glue to soften with heat and steam was surprisingly easy. Getting the neck glue to soften without damaging the finish on both neck and body was beyond my ability.

Sorry, I haven't done it. But for reference, I know Pete Townshend's method is not the best.

A heating element in a pot of water with a bunch of foam board and tape.
