My friend Mike Tibbs wrote this song. I performed/recorded all the instruments and produced the video.

The location was the horse farm of our friend Cindy Sain. She's a wonderful, kind hearted lady who rescues, rehabilitates, and trains abused and neglected animals. The two brown mares were both originally wild horses from either Montana or Wyoming (can't remember which), who were captured by the government, and who somehow ended up in North Carolina.

For instruments I used a fifty year old Lyle acoustic, a Schecter Diamond Traditional Custom HSS Stratocaster, and A Schecter J-Plus bass. Drums were programmed in Logic.

Regarding the lyrics, it’s occurred to me that this song could be like a modern day version of The Kinks “Lola.” :D

I don’t know anything about horses, or country music, but I know a bit about beards and guitar, so this gets a thumbs up (particularly for that lead tone - after listening on headphones, I got curious... turns out the tone is good on iPhone speakers too).

These are the Schecter pickups in the guitar I used to track the song. Best as I can tell from my research they may be made by Roswell, but don't quote me on that. The bridge bucker seems close in voice to a Duncan JB. The singles, as you can tell from the track, definitely have that vintagey ALNiCo snap.

Gearlist: A tele, a bass and a bunch of other stuff.

Strong work! A tele would have been the obvious choice for the country tidbits, but you went with a woody-er tone. Any particular reason?

A gimbal would steady the camera. Is there some firmware that you can download?

In 2020, I don't see how this song can be interpreted any other way.

Thanks for the feedback and kind words.

The reason I used the HSS Schecter Strat was because around the time I recorded the tune it was my most recent acquisition. I often like to "shake down" a new instrument by using it for either a live performance or recording. For this particular song I wanted the sound of a dirty humbucker on the chorus and cleaner lead tones on the verse and bridge. The Schecter fit the bill perfectly in this instance, though I do agree with you that a Tele is the no-brainer answer for this type of tune and could have covered all the aforementioned tones I was after.

I could get a gimbal for future videos, though sometimes I like the dynamic energy and gonzo journalism feel imparted by using a handheld camera.

Noce job.

And with respect to the lyrics, "She's a Wild Gelding" just doesn't have the same ring to it.

Ugh!
It's off putting to me. I know, It's just, Ugh!
Okay, so I guess I'll say it seems to me like somebody opened up a dictionary looking for words to squeeze into a song and didn't take into account the definition.

I'm gonna go play my Liquid with 3 p90 single coil himbuckers.

I've thought about how I could correct the song using changes that would be least invasive to the work.

One way would be to re-track the vocals and have Mike sing "Wild filly." But that doesn't exactly fit the context of the other lyrics, as they imply she's long in the tooth and life has put her through the ringer, whereas a filly is a young female horse less than four years old. I'm open to the other suggestions for "stallion."

The other way would be to have a woman sing the song from the first person singular point of view, but to say, "He's a wild stallion," rather than "She."

First your great on guitar, so I'm not bashing that.
I have no business attempting creativity but.
1. Have Tonray's Ghost go film some she boys. It will work and be a hit at the drag bars. I'm okay with that.
2. Have a female sing it.
3. Change it to "She drinks at The Wild Stallion." Implying that it is a less sofisticated bar.
3.5 You know how there is some hippy hoppy folks and Boy band types who write a song and create a dance at the same time (Macarena (or whatever)) Create a new drink called A Wild Stallion. (Probably should see if there is already a Wild Stallion drink.)
Combine idea 1&3 and you may have a wild hit, I mean it would be wild.

The Thai Tranny version:

She's a beautiful stallyn, wild and free
Been through so much, stands when she pees
Given more than she's taken, taken more than she should
She enjoys being misunderstood

A wyld stallyn shines in the sun
Wyld stallyn, always ready for fun

She caught my eye what a beautiful sight
Thought I could tame her on a hot summer night
Gentle as a lamb, though a tiger inside
When I lifted her skirt I got my big surprise!

A wyld stallyn shines in the sun
Wyld stallyn, always ready for fun

I thought I'd tamed this beautiful beast
But she run away, had sailors to see
There'll never be another one like her
Like a tumbleweed, she hops berth to berth

She's a wyld stallyn, shines in the sun
A wild stallion, always on the run
A wild stallion, just look at her crotch!
A wild stallion, that's not a sweat sock!
She's a wild Stallion, always on the run

Someone here made a Wyld Stallyns guitar (an SG shape, I think)... it would please me greatly if TMC reshot the video playing THAT guitar!

That lends no validity to the argument.

Do you mean the Wylde Audio Barbarian? That is one ugly guitar. That pointy little vestigial tail gives me the creeps. :o

No, I remember someone building - or at least refinishing a guitar - in hot, neon colours with a stylized WS on the body as a nod to Bill & Ted.

How about "like" a wild stallion?

Love the clean lead tone. Set off my inner Duane Allman ears in a couple of spots. Enjoyed the video, as well!
